Hollywood awaits Oscar nominations

Hollywood is holding its breath for the unveiling of Oscar nominations at the academy's headquarters on Thursday.

This year's films are jammed pack with A-list celebrities giving career-defining performances.

The shortlist of the top award, best film, can comprises between 5 to 10 movies. And in a strong year like this, it is likely to be closer to the higher end. Top Golden Globes winners "12 Years A Slave", "American Hustle","Gravity" are expected to be among them.

Blanchett, who won the Golden Globe best actress, is strongly tipped to do the same at the Oscars.
