Richard: Dubious penalty and obvious foul before third goal Brazil not convincing at all. Croatia deserved a point.

Sam: When this Brazil team meets someone like Germany, Argentina or Spain I think they could be in real trouble!

"That was a tremendous occasion to be part of. Were Brazil fortunate? Undoubtedly. Did this performance reveal flaws and fragilities? Certainly.
"But what matters is that Brazil won, that this World Cup has begun with a bang and that the poster boy of the tournament has delivered when the pressure was on. Croatia will rightly feel hard done by but this was Brazil's night."

Chris, Glasgow: Great game ruined by a shocking decision. Brazil certain to win the Cup with decisions like that going in their favour. Will any other country be getting penalties that soft? Highly doubt it.

"Unfortunately the referee probably made the headlines when we wanted to be talking about Neymar or Luka Modric instead. It was a good game of football, Croatia have shown they can hold their own against the good teams.
"They've been hard done by. The refereeing has cost them a point that they thoroughly deserved. I don't think Brazil have been that convincing. They are a good side but have had a little bit of, let's say good fortune, tonight."

How many will he get in the tournament? How many will he get in his career? Neymar is on fire.

Brazil get the job done. Croatia had them scared for a while but a brace from Neymar and then a third from Oscar have sealed the points.

Elijah: Oscar! Great goal. Great game tonight!

Ashley: Really feel Croatia deserve something out of this!

Adam: With refereeing so biased to the home country, might as well just give Brazil the World Cup now. Forgone conclusion.

Can Croatia sign a keeper on loan for the next game? Spain have got three good ones...

"You have got to say the goalkeeping for Croatia has cost them. If they had a good one they would have got a result, but Stipe Pletikosa has been at fault for all three goals. Oscar's shot just goes past him so easily, he is flat on his heels. Croatia are throwing bodies forward now but that is how Brazil got their last goal."

Brazil are going to win the opening game then and keep the emotions sky high. It's harsh on Croatia though, who have played their part.

GOAL
Brazil 3-1 Croatia - Oscar

From one end to the other. Croatia came close with that low shot from range and Brazil come right down the other end to score a killer third. Oscar, who the Brazilian media wanted out, stabs home with a toe-poke from 22 yards.

"Since Brazil got that second goal they have come right off the pace. Over the course of the match they have had more of the ball and probably created more chances but Croatia have played well in this second half, you have to them credit. They have given it a good go and they should already have the equaliser. The decisions of the referee have cost them - especially on the penalty."

Chance! Luka Modric delivers a telling cross from the right and Vedran Corluka heads wide. Not a gimme, but a decent opening and he should have hit the target. Is that their last chance?
YELLOW CARD

Luiz Gustavo is booked for a cynical foul in midfield - and Neymar is replaced by Ramires. The Brazilian James Milner, he'll get five minutes to shut up shop.

Into the last five minutes. Can Croatia poop the party?

"I didn't think there was anything wrong with that - Julio Cesar just missed the ball, Olic simply headed it. Another decision that will be controversial."
