MOVIES: Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg may team up again for comedy Daddy’s Home

Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg's 2010 buddy-cop comedy The Other Guys might not have broke any records at the box office, but the chemistry between the actors was apparently good enough to try pairing them up again for another film.

According to Deadline Hollywood, Ferrell and Wahlberg could reunite for Daddy's Home, a comedy that was initially set to star Ferrell as the earnest stepfather to a pair of children and Vince Vaughn as the kids' wild biological father. Wahlberg would now step in to replace Vaughn and play the role of the kids' real father, who forces Ferrell's character to compete for their affection.

Ferrell is also a producer on the film, along with longtime collaborator Adam McKay's production company, Gary Sanchez Productions. We're The Millers screenwriters Sean Anders and John Morris are in talks to direct; Anders is currently directing the sequel to Horrible Bosses, hitting theaters later this year.

While Ferrell is no stranger to comedy and generally does pretty well as a headliner, Wahlberg has had some hits and misses in the genre. The Other Guys barely broke even at the box office, but 2012′s Seth MacFarlane comedy Ted turned its $50 million budget into $550 million in worldwide ticket sales.

Production on Daddy's Home is expected to begin this fall, with the studio hoping to move things along at a quick pace once the cast and creative team are confirmed and shooting begins.
