MOVIES: J.J. Abrams responds to leaked Star Wars photos with a photo of his own

It seems like we get more photos from the set of Star Wars: Episode VII every day, but the latest image to make the rounds is particularly unique — not just because it's sanctioned by the studio, but also because it serves as director J.J. Abrams response to all of the leaked photos that came before it:

The photo, which was posted on the Twitter feed for Abrams' production company, Bad Robot, features a tongue-in-cheek note from the filmmaker addressing the recent leaks from the set of his in-production Star Wars sequel.

"I wish people would stop leaking photos from Episode VII. And making ridiculous claims that the Millenium Falcon is in the movie. – JJ" the note reads.

Of course, it's not what Abrams wrote that's giving Star Wars fans a chuckle — it's where the note appears to be posted. The message is affixed to what is clearly the corner of a Dejarik table similar to the one seen in the original Star Wars aboard Han Solo's spaceship, the Millenium Falcon. (For those who might not be up on their fictional games of the Star Wars universe, "Dejarik" is the chess-like game with miniature, holographic monsters played by Chewbacca and R2-D2 in the the 1977 film.)

Well played, Mr. Abrams. And thanks for indirectly confirming the legitimacy of those leaked set photos.

Star Wars: Episode VII is scheduled to hit theaters  December 18, 2015.
