Who needs a supercar? The 2015 Ford Mustang GT is getting a 700-hp supercharger upgrade

The 2015 Ford Mustang isn't even on sale yet and aftermarket performance companies are already creating bolt-on power upgrades for it.

According to a leaked press release, supercharger maker Whipple has created a 2.9-liter twin-screw supercharger for the forthcoming 5.0-liter Coyote V8-powered 2015 Mustang GT.

Without a blower, the '15 'Stang creates 420 horsepower. With the Whipple bolted up, though, it's push 700 ponies. Which, if you're as bad at math as I am, is a 280-hp leap … nothing to snarl at.

The supercharger is supposedly pretty easy to install. The kit will also include an air-to-water intercooler, embiggened high-flow fuel injectors, a larger air intake, a throatier exhaust system, and remapped ECU.

Whipple is also working on some cold air intakes and upgraded throttle body kits for the 2015 Mustang, according to Motor Authority.

Ford is also said to be working on a supercharger for its all-new pony car, with a debut set for later this year.

In the meantime, though, if you're one of the first through the showroom door at your nearby Ford store when the 'Stang finally arrives, and want one of the first blown ponies, you can just bolt up a Whipple of your own.
