Police in Iraq say at least 10 policemen have been killed and five others wounded in three violent attacks by gunmen.
Iraqis check their destroyed properties close to the the scene of a suicide car bomb that detonated outside a central police station in the northern Iraqi city of Kirkuk on January 7, 2014.
Unidentified gunmen attacked a police patrol near Samarra, some 120 kilometers north of Baghdad, killing
seven policemen. Three policemen were killed and three others wounded in the town of Imam Weis in Iraq's
eastern Diyala province.
Two more policemen were injured at a checkpoint in the town of Abu Saida, also in Diyala province.
Iraq is witnessing its worst violence in recent years.
According to the UN Assistance Mission for Iraq, a total of eight thousand eight hundred and sixty -eight Iraqis were killed in 2013, and more than 18-thousand others were
wounded.
