George R.R. Martin Hints About Making a "Game Of Thrones" Film

Fans are recently anxiously waiting for season 4 that is set to launch in few weeks, but the creative minds behind HBO blockbuster TV show "Game Of Thrones" are already planning how things are going to finish. Certainly, the show writers are already considering bringing show to an end gradually after 7th or 8th season... or will they? Currently, this is HBO's prime a continuing source of profit so maybe it's not a shocker that the network is already discussing possibilities for one mega-budget motion picture to really cap it all off.

Author George R.R. Martin disclosed that a film is already under consideration, although it's still quite premature in the game. "It all depends on how long the main series runs," he explained. "Do we run for seven years? Do we run for eight? Do we run for 10? The books get bigger and bigger (in scope). It might need a feature to tie things up, something with a feature budget, like $100 million for two hours. Those dragons get real big, you know."

To further enhance the anticipation, Martin told that he is already going through some source material in, "Tales Of Dunk And Egg" and it would in fact serve as more of a prequel. It further consists of three novels named "The Hedge Knight," "The Sworn Sword" and "The Mystery Knight."

For those who are not aware of them, these short stories (each nearly hundred pages long) begin almost 100 years prior to the stories of Game of Thrones and portray the life of Aegon V Targaryen and the hedge knight Ser Duncan the Tall (referred in a Season 1 by Old Nan), and their enduring companionship that starts at a tourney at Ashford. Ser Duncan goes into a tournament to commence his career as a knight. But he is not much familiar with world of knights and nobles, and he struggles to search a supporter who will enable him to compete in the tournament. Martin revealed that he has ideas to come up with anything from 9 to 12 of these stories.

Certainly, whether or not this turns out or how it turns out is still several years off, but HBO making films based on TV shows is nothing new, so this seems right. "Game Of Thrones" could truly take advantage of a Hollywood film.
