Jeff Jarrett founded TNA Wrestling, and was able to make it into an internationally known business. Sadly, his power was taken from him in the end and he ended up leaving. Now he is trying his hand at starting a promotion again and is probably going to make sure he doesn't make the same mistakes he did with TNA. GFW has signed a ton of impressive names set for their upcoming shows. However, one name might be the big key for them.
GFW is attempting to sign former WCW World Heavyweight Champion Bill Goldberg. Goldberg has stated that he wants to return to the ring, but he does not want to work for WWE again. So sadly, we have to wonder about where he'd go. TNA is also not on his list of places to be. According to Daily Wrestling News, Jeff Jarrett felt he'd be a great addition to GFW, so he gave him a call.
Goldberg was said to be insulted by GFW's offer, which probably means he won't be taking them up on anything. Sadly, Jeff Jarrett and GFW is a starting business. They don't have a ton of money right now, so naturally they can't afford to pay a lot of money to anyone. This is preventing them from signing top names. With TNA, at least they had Panda Energy as a big backer to help them out when they wanted to sign a big name.
With GFW, there is no major backer like that.
GFW was talking with Jim Ross about signing with them to at least do their pilot show, but the two sides could not come to an agreement money wise.
Money is one of the biggest problems Indy companies face when trying to start up. Add in that there are other places that offer more that aren't even on TV and you can have a lot of trouble starting.
People are assuming that Jeff will get Global Force Wrestling off the ground in a major way. For now however, they are having trouble. Goldberg is clearly a big name who does want to be back in the ring, but he doesn't have to. Unless GFW can somehow get a lot of money…they will not be able to sign anyone like Goldberg. That said, expect good Indy names to appear. Do not expect a major former WWE Superstar however.
