Award winning musician, TuFace's (Innocent Idibia) record label, the 960 Music PR Team, on Wednesday threatened legal action against a musician over an alleged infringement on copyright of his song.
This threat is contained in a statement issued by the label and obtained by the News Agency of Nigeria in Abuja.
It stated that the track released a few days ago was by a rising singer only known as Ewa.
"It has been brought to our attention that there is a song 'Crazy Love', being circulated on the Internet which was composed and sang by one Ewa and purportedly featuring 2Face.
"The song is an illegal manipulation and super-imposition on 2Face's unreleased song titled 'Could This Be Love'.
"This odious and fraudulent act is not only condemnable but also an assault on the integrity of the entertainment industry which thrives on creativity and hard work," the statement said.
It emphasised that the act was an infringement on 2Face's right under the Copyright Act Cap C28, LFN 2004
It hinted that the company would employ the full force of law to enforce his reproduction, publishing, performance and communication rights which had been breached.
"We wish to use this medium to categorically state that 2Face did not feature in any song composed and sang by any Ewa," it said.
