One of the surest ways of ending the continuous insurgence of Boko Haram in Nigeria is by Nigerians from different faiths to unite and offer continuous prayers to Allah rather than pointing accusing fingers to any religion.
Chief Imam of University of Calabar, and Missioner of Nasrul-Li- Fathi Society of Nigeria, NASFAT, Cross River State Chapter Sheik Abdulkadir Bature made the admonition during the Friday sermon at the University Central Mosque, Calabar.
He said what is happening in the country calls for sober reflection irrespective of religion, saying both Muslims and Christians are members of the same family.
Bature who said members of the sect are not Muslims stressed that the first Surat revealed to the Prophet in the Holy Quran is "Iqra" which means 'read' and wondered where 'Boko' (education) becomes Haram in Islam.
While calling on government at all levels and other well meaning Nigerians not to see the acts of the sect as a fight for any religion but an onslaught against Nigeria, Sheik Bature said only undiluted prayers can expose the perpetrators and bring peace to the country.
He said Nigerians of different faiths should unite in prayers nationwide and call on Allah to return peace to the country.
He commended the Cross River State Government for providing security to all and sundry irrespective of differences in religions, tribes or ethnic inclination.
"Let us fear Allah and do away with worldly things that will destroy our faiths.
"What is happening in the country calls for sober reflection. Nigerians and Nigeria need undiluted prayers in unison to end these needless killings.
"How can any devilish group be saying they are fighting for the cause of Islam when Islam encourages education and knowledge?
"The guns and bombs they are using, are they not experimental products of knowledge (Boko)?
"What is happening in Nigeria calls for concern from all and sundry and no one should say 'I'm not affected." He said.
