A new leak for the Galaxy S5 Zoom has surfaced, possibly confirming previously leaked specs for the upcoming phone/digital camera hybrid. If the leaked shot is to be believed, Samsung's next Android phone/camera hybrid will have a 20-megapixel camera with 10x zoom. This support previous leaks, such as one that came in form of jotted down notes from a meeting in Poland. The source of the leak, which declared that the new device will usher in "the death of compact cameras," also referred to the phone with a different name, the Samsung Galaxy K Zoom.
This is last year's Zoom
The new image, a close-up view of the phone's backside, shows that the new Zoom will do a better job of hiding the camera lens when not in use. The previous version of the phone, the Galaxy S4 Zoom, had a protruding camera lens, which offered an obstacle for comfortably gripping the phone.
According to earlier leaks, the phone is expected to have Android 4.4.2 KitKat, a 20-megapixel camera with 10x optical zoom, a 1.6GHz quad-core chip, a 4.8-inch Super AMOLED display of 720p pixel resolution, 2GB total RAM, a Xenon flash, and optical image stabilization.
The Galaxy S5 Zoom, or whatever it ends up being called, may be announced in May.
