Omoni Oboli, Nollywood Actress and producer has been declared best actress by director Desmond Ovbiagele and Steve Shodiya.
Omoni Oboli has been adjudged the best actress in Nollywood. Desmond Ovbiagele, producer and director of the new film, 'Render to Caesar' and celebrated movie editor Steve Shodiya handed down this verdict during a sneak preview of the film last Tuesday, in Lagos, saying Omoni Oboli stands out among equals.
Steve, the brain behind the post-production of some of the best movies in Nollywood said, as a post-production expert, he sees a lot of things which are captured on camera; the good, the bad and the ugly, and can readily pick out an actor or actress who brings 'life' to a production.
He revealed that sometimes, he uses Omoni's scenes to clean up other actors'shortcomings. "As far as I'm concerned, Omoni Oboli is the best for the roles she played in "Render to Caesar", "Anchor Baby" and "Figurine." No other actor could have interpreted those roles the way she did. Most of them are stereotyped but she is versatile,"he stated. Also, in his own assessment, Desmond Ovbiagele said, Omoni Oboli is highly professional on set.
"I was looking for a professional in terms of her approach to work; I have heard a lot of stories about actors and actresses on set. After my research, I found out that Omoni is very professional and is somebody who knows her onions"
On his new crime thriller, which premieres next month, Desmond said, what he tried to do with the big-budget movie was to set a new standard in Nollywood in terms of acting, scripting, story line and production values.Shot on the acclaimed red Epic camera,"Render to Caesar" features most of Nigeria's finest actors such as Gbenga Akinnagbe, Omoni Oboli, Wale Ojo, Kalu Ikeagwu, Bimbo Manuel among others.
