Men of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps in Ogun state said yesterday that it had sealed off six filling stations for selling above the official pump price.
The corps also said that no fewer than six persons in the affected filling stations in Ogun State have been arrested for allegedly engaging in illegal activity.
The Corps Public Relations Officer, Olanrewaju Kareem in a statement disclosed that the command began patrol and inspection of filling stations in Abeokuta and its environ.
According to him, the filing stations affected are Alak; Arolat, Olub at Ayetoro road; Energy at camp and Rantipe at Obantoko .
He said" the action was a directive by the Zonal commander, zone F,ACG, Oladapo Amujare who is not happy with the recent attitude of some petrol stations which sell above the approved pump price by the federal government of Nigeria.
"In line with this directive, some team of NSCDC went around some filling stations selling beyond the approved pump prices . More than twenty petrol stations were visited within Abeokuta metropolis and in all these, only six were without fuel after checking the underground tanks.
"Other ones were caught selling above the approved pump prices; some at one hundred naira per litre, ad others between one hundred and five and one hundred and ten naira per litre.
"Those involved were immediately warned to revert to the the official price,while others who were recalcitrant were arrested and brought to the office for appropriate action."
