The GB women will play Canada on Wednesday after beating Russia 9-6 and losing to Denmark 8-7.
David Murdoch's men lost 6-5 to China in their final group game, while Norway were beaten 5-3 by Denmark.
They will play each other at 05:00 GMT on Tuesday, with the winner facing world champions Sweden in the semis.
The men's final round-robin match proved a tight affair, with both sides trading singles until China scored two in the fourth end. Murdoch's team pulled it back to 5-5 after nine ends but China skip Liu Rui scored a perfect draw to take the final point and the win.
"The good thing is we are still here in the competition," Murdoch said. "We have bittersweet feelings. It was a chance to go over the finish line and we have had a few of those.
"We play Norway in the play-off and we have got a good record against them. We have got to go out there and enjoy it - we are still in these Olympic Games."
Eve Muirhead's women's team beat Russia 9-6 in the early game on Monday before a combination of other results meant they were through, irrespective of their result against Denmark.
They were unable to end the round-robin stage on a positive note, however, letting a 7-4 lead slip going into the final end and allowing the Danes to level at 7-7, before Lene Nielsen won the decisive extra end.
Great Britain will now face unbeaten Canada on Wednesday, while Switzerland will take on Sweden in the other semi-final.
