Warner Bros animated film The Lego Movie tops the global box office this weekend with a whopping $23.1 million in 48 international markets for a worldwide weekend take of $54.5 million, making it to $31.4 million in its third week of release. The studio further enjoyed a huge number one debut in china alone for the The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug raking in $32.7 million.
The film which features big stars like Elizabeth Banks, Morgan Freeman, Chris Patt, Will Ferrell, Lian Neeson and Will Arnett, should end its domestic run with around $270 million, easily the biggest total for a non-sequel animated film outside of the Disney/Pixar wheelhouse, according to Forbes.
The LEGO Movie 2 has been slotted for May 26, 2017 but meanwhile here are the top 12 domestic weekend box office estimates - data collected as of Sunday, Feb. 23.
