This is how a legend is honoured ...in another man's land too!
Toronto's Mayor Rob Ford Declares February 6 2014 as Bob Marley Day in his City
Toronto's Mayor declares Bob Marley Day, Toronto's Mayor Rob Ford has declared a Bob Marley Day in his city on Febraury 6, 2014. The Government official has also admitted to smoking crack cocaine and other drugs and was caught dancing to the reggae icon's One Love track at the City Council Chambers earlier this year.
Even though reports claim Ford was not at City Hall for the annual tribute to the reggae icon, this year's celebration was quite newsworthy especially after he confessed to smoking heavy drugs in a 'drunken stupor" in the past. He earlier grabbed headlines by urging the federal government in Ottawa to legalize weed smoking.
"Bob Marley became one of the greatest ambassadors of peace the world has seen. He used music to tear down the walls of apartheid and promoted African unity, culture and world peace both at home and internationally, with songs like 'One Love' and 'Africa Unite,' " Ford said in an official statement as he unveiled plans for Bob Marley Day this year.
"Now therefore, I, Mayor Rob Ford, on behalf of Toronto City Council, do hereby proclaim February 6, 2014 as 'Bob Marley Day' in the City of Toronto," he added in a statement.
This is quite a twist; Is he celebrating Bob Marley because he also wants the Canadian government to legalize marijuana?
Guys what do you think of this?
