Hundreds of people across Japan have suffered from food poisoning after eating products of a single brand.
Japanese food maker Maruha Nichiro's frozen products, including pizza, croquettes and pancakes, are believed to be tainted by a pesticide.
The company has started a nationwide recall of 6.4 million packages on December 29.
Japan's health ministry confirmed that over 550 people suffered vomiting and stomach pains after eating their products, while Kyodo News agency put the tally at 909.
There have been no reports of life-threatening illnesses from Maruha's food so far. The pesticide of malathion is used in farming and gardening and can cause death at high enough concentrations.
Some of Maruha's products contained
malathion up to 2.6 million times the permitted limit.
