Though laptops certainly qualify as mobile devices, carrying around their power adapters can be a pain, and may devalue some of the allure that comes with carrying around a portable computer. Some adapters are slim, but others can be quite bulky, especially if you own a laptop that was manufactured a few years ago.
However, FINsix has developed a laptop charger that's compatible with a wide range of models and brands, and aims to add another layer of portability to your notebook.
The Dart, which is currently being funded via a Kickstarter campaign, employs technology that was developed at MIT. It weighs 0.13 pounds, has a brick that measures 2.5 cubic inches, and is attached to a cable that's six feet long. It supplies 65 watts of juice, and can be used with countless notebooks, including models made by all the big players in the PC space, like Lenovo, Dell, Acer, and more. While you're at it, you might want to take a gander at the non-compatibility guide as well. There's another version of the Dart that's made for MacBooks, though there are some exceptions. Though FinSIX says that the Dart for MacBook is compatible with all MacBook laptops 65W and under, the 15-inch and 17-inch MacBook Pro, and the 15-inch MacBook Pro with Retina require more, and therefore aren't compatible.
The Kickstarter campaign for the Dart, which will wrap up in two days, has been wildly successful. Though FinSIX's goal was set at $200,000, as of this writing, $440,951 has been raised.
You can lock down a Dart for $89, which comes in multiple colors, including Blue (pictured), Silver, and Gunmetal. However, MacBook users will have to pay $168, which is almost double.
