The Last of Us Remastered listing pops up for PS4 in Sony’s online store [updated]

UPDATE: Well, it's official. Try to act surprised. A new PlayStation Blog post confirms the shocking news that The Last of Us Remastered is indeed coming to PlayStation 4, and it'll be arriving this summer. The re-release bumps the game's resolution up to 1080p and packs in all previously released DLC; the Left Behind story add-on, the Abandoned Territories map pack, and the as-yet-unreleased Reclaimed Territories pack (details coming soon). There's also going to be audio commentary on all of the game's cutscenes from writer and Naughty Dog creative director Neil Druckman and the game's two voice actor stars, Ashley Johnson and Troy Baker.

Those that pre-order the game get a handful of bonuses as well, for both the single player campaign and the multiplayer mode. You'll find all the details on that, including participating retailers, right here.

ORIGINAL POST: The rumors appear to be true: The Last of Us Remastered is coming to PlayStation 4 with a $59.99 price tag. Confirmation comes directly from Sony, but in an indirect manner. There's been no press release or formal announcement about the news, but there is a banner ad for the game on main page of the company's online store. Clicking it should lead to a pre-order page, but it's just a dead link at the moment. See the screencap below:

The banner ad says nothing about a release date or included extras; just the price and a "Day 1 Digital" stamp, meaning you'll be able to download it from the PlayStation Store whenever it comes out (surprise!). Bear in mind, this could be a mistaken listing. Someone designed that banner, but it's always possible that it's the work of extra-terrestrial terrorists with a vested interest in misleading the gaming community. It's equally possible that Sony planned to announce The Last of Us Remastered at PAX East over the weekend, and someone on the Web team just flipped a switch too early. We'd say there's an even chance of it being either possibility being the truth. (Just joking here, folks… it's totally the alien menace.)

This isn't the first time we've heard that The Last of Us would be making the journey to PS4. Just last month, a PlayStation Eurasian manager confirmed the port's existence in a CNN Turk interview. A subsequent official comment from a Sony spokesperson in Europe confirmed nothing, but it didn't exactly shoot down the news either. "At no time have we announced that The Last of Us is coming to PS4 and therefore, have nothing to say on the subject," the spokesperson said.

So it looks like The Last of Us Remastered is coming to PS4. Probably. We've reached out to Sony for comment and will update this post accordingly when we hear something official.
